Congratulations to Cambridge University RUFC for their 53-22 victory over the Steele-Bodger XV on 22 November 2017. This year marked the 70th anniversary of the fixture and served as an excellent final warm-up for Cambridge in preparation for the 136th Varsity match against Oxford University at Twickenham on 7 December.

Rob Andrew (St John’s College, Cambridge, played in three Varsity matches in the 1980s) delighted the pre-match lunch guests with an engaging speech. Rob’s renowned career included 71 England appearances and 5 caps for the British and Irish Lions. Later, he became the Director of Rugby at Newcastle Falcons in 1995, where he won the 1997-98 Premiership and was also credited with discovering Jonny Wilkinson. He is now Chief Executive of Sussex County Cricket Club.

Cambridge ran in a total of nine tries in what was an extremely well-contested and enjoyable encounter. As a proud supporter of University sport, Cantab Asset Management was delighted to be the headline sponsor for the match and congratulates Cambridge on their victory.
