Meet the Cantab team.

Our stated goal is to employ some of the best people in their field. We are committed to investing in ongoing training and development and this coupled with our ethos, management style and commitment to excellent growth has resulted in staff with long service - something highly valued by our clients. We also employ some exceptional recent post-graduates and graduates who are at the beginning of their financial planning careers but keen to assist in giving the best possible service to clients. Our staff providing advice are professionally qualified and continue their professional development within the firm.

David Saunderson - Chief Executive

David has been giving investment and financial planning advice for many years as the principal of Saunderson House of which he was Chief Executive for twenty four years and then subsequently with Cantab and its antecedents. David read engineering at Downing College, Cambridge and then qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Price Waterhouse in 1979. David serves as a trustee of several charities and enjoys skiing and tennis when time allows.


Dr Jeremy Davis - Managing Director

Jeremy has been advising private clients and companies for many years and has been the Managing Director of one of the antecedent firms - 35 Finance. Jeremy read Natural Sciences at Magdalene College, Cambridge and holds a Ph.D in Genetics and Plant Breeding. Jeremy is a Chartered Wealth Manager and a Chartered and Certified Financial Planner. Prior to Cantab, Jeremy worked in South America and Africa for the World Bank and Unilever. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA) and enjoys sailing, music and gardening.


Lionel Welch - Director

Lionel is a Chartered Financial Planner and holds an economics degree and an MBA from HEC School of Management.

Lionel brings a wide experience of financial markets, analysis and strategy having previously worked for Morgan Stanley in London and Hong Kong, before moving to BlackRock.

Lionel is fluent in French, less so in Spanish and enjoys sailing, skiing and Crossfit.


Cristina Bota - Director

Cristina trained with Santander Bank and has been advising private clients for many years. Cristina is a Chartered Financial Planner and holds a Bachelor's degree in Civil Law from Babas Bolyai University.

Cristina enjoys skiing, cycling and squash.

Toby Allebon

Toby Allebon - Director

Toby is both a Chartered Wealth Manager and a Chartered Financial Planner. He also holds the Investment Management Certificate, the Certificate in Advanced Mortgage Advice and is an ACCA affiliate.

After reading Natural Sciences at Durham University, in 2001 Toby joined the Investec graduate programme. He has been working with private clients for many years.

Toby loves spending time with his young family and now watches rather than plays rugby.

Leah Bramwell

Leah Bramwell - Director

Leah read Economics at Newnham College, Cambridge before starting her career with Orbis Investment Advisory in London. Here, she provided equity investment recommendations for a Global fund and became a CFA Charterholder. Leah completed an MPhil in Economic History at Darwin College, Cambridge where she enjoyed playing Varsity golf and real tennis.


Mark Wynne-Jones - Director

Mark has 25 years' experience in global equity and multi-asset investing, with much of this time spent at Investec Asset Management, and prior to that UBS Wealth Management and Cavendish Asset Management.

Mark studied at the London School of Economics and London Business School, and is a member of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute and Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) Association.

Ed Green - Director

Edward advises private clients and trusts having attained his Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning whilst working for Lloyds Bank.

After a Biomedical Science degree at Cardiff University, Edward worked as a peptide chemist producing and analysing custom peptides for scientific research and commercial use.

In his spare time, he is renovating his home in Cambridge and enjoys keeping active by cycling, playing football and going to the gym.

David Simpson - Director

David is a Chartered Financial Planner and holds a Theology degree from the University of St Andrews. He enjoys spending time with his family and following rugby.

David joined Cantab having worked in India for a charity after graduation.

Tom Lester - Client Director

Tom joined the Cantab Graduate scheme in 2015 and has since completed the Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning. Prior to this he studied Economics with French at Durham University, which included a placement year at Aix-Marseille University in the South of France.

Outside of the office, Tom is a keen footballer and tennis player and also enjoys following his beloved Leicester City.

Patrick Smyth

Patrick Smyth - Investment Manager

Patrick trained with Refuge Assurance and has worked within the investment and insurance sector for many years. Patrick joined Cantab's antecedent firm in Cambridge in 2005 providing investment portfolio advice for private clients, trusts and charities. Patrick is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute and a member of the CFA Society and holds the Investment Management Certificate.

Patrick enjoys cooking, music and gardening.

Nino Singh Judge - Senior Adviser

Nino received an MEng in Aeronautical-Astronautical Engineering from the University of Southampton. Nino worked in London, Paris and New York for 25 years principally for JP Morgan and BGC Partners, initially as a trader and broker but then specialising in credit pricing models and trading platform development.

In 2009, Nino took time out from the City to restart the Lotus Formula 1 team.

Nino is passionate about aviation and, of course, all forms of motorsport.

George Rocke - Charity Consultant

George works on the development of Cantab's relationships with charities. He served in the Grenadier Guards for ten years, worked on major national events and then was a Director of the charity International Health Partners.


Dr Don Stevens - Associate Director

Don holds a Master of Commerce degree from Stellenbosch University and read for an MPhil in Real Estate Finance at Cambridge University. He holds a PhD in the research area of Behavioural Finance and Applied Quantitative Research, based at St Edmund's College.

In his free time, Don is an avid reader and enjoys watching rugby accompanied with a traditional South African "Braai".

Don captained the Cambridge University rugby team in the 2015 Varsity Match.

Jack Burchell - Associate Director

Jack joined Cantab having obtained a degree in Sport Science from Loughborough University, where he also competed as a national level swimmer.

Jack still enjoys swimming in his free time and watching football.

Jack holds the Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning.


Paul Broadbridge - Assistant Director

Paul studied Physics at the University of Warwick. He spent over a decade in the computer industry before pursuing a career in finance with Cantab.

Paul has a young family and is involved with scouting, as well as playing cricket and mah-jong when time allows.

Paul holds the Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning.

Matt Shevlane - Assistant Director

Matt joined Cantab having read Economics at the University of Nottingham.

Matt enjoys watching and playing many sports, especially football and tennis.

Matt holds the Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning.

James Hamilton - Financial Planner & Wealth Manager

James studied Investment and Financial Risk Management at Cass Business School, London. James' interests include playing rugby, skiing and kitesurfing.

James holds the Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning.

Matt Wheeler - Financial Planner & Wealth Manager

Matt joined Cantab having obtained a MEng in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Southampton. Matt enjoys skiing, playing hockey and golf. He is also an avid follower of football and Formula 1.

Matt holds the Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning.

Harry Sangha - Assistant Financial Planner & Wealth Manager

Harry joined Cantab having read Geography with Economics at the London School of Economics. Alongside his studies, Harry has helped in his family's businesses.

Harry is a sports enthusiast, he particularly enjoys playing football.

Rhys Cann - Trainee Financial Planner & Wealth Manager

Rhys holds a Master of Economics degree from the University of Birmingham. Rhys enjoys skiing, golf and tennis. He is a keen follower of football and plays for the Cantab 5-a-side team.

Luke Mulley - Trainee Financial Planner & Wealth Manager

Luke joined Cantab having studied Theology at Durham University. He played cricket at University, and still enjoys playing in his spare time.

Andrew Teevan - Trainee Financial Planner & Wealth Manager

Andrew was born and raised in Cambridge, and studied History at the University of Bristol. This was followed by a Master's degree from the University of Cambridge, where he investigated the impact of the 'Financial Revolution' in the City of London towards the end of the 17th century.

In his spare time, Andrew loves to play squash, watch rugby, and is an avid reader of novels and history.

James Woodman - Trainee Financial Planner & Wealth Manager

James read Business Economics at the University of Surrey where he enjoyed both coaching and playing tennis.

Having spent a large portion of his life living in Dubai, he enjoys returning to the hot climate and the accompanying Middle-Eastern cuisine.

Judith Purton - PA to CEO

Judith started her career working for a multinational in London in the Human Resources Division. She is PA to our CEO and coordinates our event management and recruitment.

In her spare time, she enjoys circuit training, pilates and travelling.

Marina Isakova - Finance Assistant

Marina has many years' experience in the financial services sector both in the UK and in Latvia. Marina holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics and holds the Professional AAT Diploma. Marina is currently working towards the ACCA qualification.

Marina enjoys an active life, travelling and exploring new places, swimming and pilates.
