Our History

Cantab Asset Management has been providing a dedicated service to clients for over 30 years. We have consistently delivered high standards of service to our clients and good risk-adjusted returns. Principles, People and Performance have been our watchwords as we have grown.

  • 1984 Hodgson and Faraday Ltd (H&F) formed in Mayfair to provide investment services to private clients. Barr Ellison forms financial services division for private clients and charities in Cambridge.
  • 2002 Dr Jeremy Davis appointed to lead Barr Ellison's financial services division.
  • 2006 Barr Ellison forms 35 Finance Ltd (35F) in Cambridge to take over their financial services division providing investment services to private clients and charities.
  • 2011 David Saunderson acquires H&F and is appointed Chief Executive.
  • 2012 David Saunderson acquires Barr Ellison shares in 35F and is appointed Chief Executive.
  • 2013 H&F and 35F merge to form Cantab Asset Management ('Cantab'); funds under management reach £100m.
  • 2016 Funds under management reach £500m. FT lists Cantab's 5 year Balanced Portfolio Performance at the top of 44 Wealth Managers.
  • 2017 Cantab model portfolio performance verified by Asset Risk Consultants ('ARC').
  • 2018 Launch of VT-Cantab Multi-Asset Global OEIC Funds: Moderate & Balanced. Funds under management exceed £600m.
